Plumbing Tricks

We always want to live on a nice home, we always makes DIY projects as improvements to our house. We want to maintain it properly and make it last long. It is our pride that we can say that we do it by ourselves. We made a few tricks to make our maintenance stress free and easy. We made our own landscaping projects, we become our house interior designer, and we even make stone towers on our lawn. Electrical repairs are not hard as it seems, you just need a few tools like testers, tapes and wires to do repairs and maintenance. On the other hand plumbing repairs and maintenance is a little bit hard and tricky, but with a few tricks of the trade plumbing is easy as a piece of cake. You can be a professional Thornlands plumber in no time. If you want some plumbing tricks here are few of them.

When you can’t cut a pipe reheat solder. The best way to disconnect a soldered pipe is to cut it. But sometimes cutting is not the only option, because you don’t have a cutting tool into the space, or it will be too short to make a new connection. One solution is to reheat the joint and pull off the fittings as the solder melts.

When you deal with stuck pipes loosen it with heat. Sometimes ancient connection that were sealed with pipe dope hardened overtime, but heat can do the trick you just need to be patient. You just need to apply heat on a threaded connection, protect nearby surface with flame resistant cloth, this method can be done on water and waste pipe only and never do it on gas or fuel lines.

Plastic is a good replacement for metal drain lines. Metal drain lines under sinks looks a lot reliable than plastic. Unlike metal plastic wont corrode, it is better in almost every way, it’s much cheaper, easier to install and to adjust and tighten is a leak develops. When your metal drain leaks, the best way to do is to replace the entire assembly with plastic.

Fixing clog takes time to finish, before you run a drain snake into a clogged pipe or disassemble the trap a nice trick will do by using a wet and dry vacuum that may suck out the clog.

We always bear in mind that tightening the supply lines will make it safe for leaks, but over tightening the supply lines make it much riskier. Under tightening  is much easy job to fix you just need a few twist and your leaks is solved, while overthigtening can wreck rubber seals and crack the thread nuts. Always bear in mind and make habit to tighten the supply finger tight, if the still leaks then give another turn with pliers.

There are lots of easier tricks to do your DIY plumbing maintenance, being a personal plumber inside your home makes you a pro. You can even share your knowledge to others in your neighborhood. Having a nice house to live in makes it a Home Sweet Home.
